Design actuated Systems
In this course, I gained a deeper understanding of mechanical design, materials, actuation, sensing, and control through the creation of a mechanical sculpture and interactive lamp HILO.
I learned how to constrain parts to precisely define their degrees of freedom, select appropriate materials for robustness, explore methods for storing and releasing energy, and optimize the design to minimize friction. In the group assignment, I also learned how to design haptic interactions using BLDC motors and how to link the haptic experience to the actuation of the prototype.
